At that time of year

Being a working mother at Christmas is not always easy…

Its sometimes a hard balance to strike between running a small business (especially at that time of year) and being a mother, and often its a constant juggling act to ensure I have that life balance. I do like being busy and theres always something on the list of things i need or would like to do, but at Christmas time these all get put on hold whilst I’m in full swing for fairs (read about my scandi market fair) and etsy shop set ups in time for the busy period. But i also don’t want to be all work and no play and know I can have some creative fun with my daughter and share some special moments sharing my love of art, design and handmade with her, even at the young age of  2 and half.

Scandi Market 2017

Its that time of year when us “creative-types” start thinking about Christmas (yes, it’s August!). I’m relatively new to the craft-fair scene and in 2016, for the first time I undertook a local craft fair in my village, Staplehurst with fellow crafters. It was a perfect time to test the water and try out the beginnings of what I now refer to as “my little taste of Norway”.

Although I do both graphic design and baking, it’s sometimes hard to take my design work to fairs as a lot of work I produce is bespoke. and so I usually turn to the bakery to create some delicious treats for the festive season. But as you can image cupcakes and sliced cakes aren’t the normal choice around this year. So I turned to my heritage for inspiration for what i would bring to the festive season in 2017.
